General description
Dimer acid, hydrogenated is a fatty acid with 36 carbon atoms. It consists of a cyclohexene ring which can be synthesized by clay-catalyzed dimerization at 230-250°C.
Improves flexibility, toughness, impact resistance, dyeability and hydrolytic stability of polymers.
Application
Comonomer in polyesters, polyamides and polyurethanes.
Dimer acid, hydrogenated can be used as a corrosion inhibitor for the protection of lead metal substrates. It can also be used in polyamide based hot melting adhesives as a thermoplastic polymer for electronic boards, textiles and packaging systems.
