Titanium-ate enolates prepared from ketones by Ti(OiPr)4 and LDA underwent efficient radical trifluoromethylation providing trifluoromethyl ketones in good yield. Also used in directed ortholithiation of arylsulfonyloxazolidinones to prepare N-substituted saccharin analogs.
