General description
Nafion™ membranes are fluorinated polymers functionalized with sulphonic acid moieties.
Application
Nafion™ is a perfluorinated ion-exchange membrane which has a wide variety of commercial uses. The acidic (hydrogen ion) form and derivatives are solid, superacid catalysts useful in a wide variety of synthetic applications.
Nafion™ perfluorinated membrane is a composite membrane, which is utilized as an ion-exchange membrane for the fabrication of fuel cells. It can also be used as an electrolytic separator for the preparation of small scale supercapacitors.
Packaging
Darkening/browning is common for pieces stored in a general room environment for an extended period of time (several months), due to organics pick-up. Verify product is kept sealed during storage.
· Keep pieces sealed and protected from general exposure will reduce the effect. Recommend long term storage in air-tight bags.
· Discoloration does not affect performance and can be removed by soaking in dilute nitric acid.
