General description

4-Aminophenol is an organic building block. Its voltammetric estimation in water samples by employing single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNT)-Nafion film coated glassy carbon electrode has been reported. It is present as the main contaminant in the pharmaceutical formulation of paracetamol. Its quantification in multicomponent dosage preparations of paracetamol by HPLC coupled with amperometric detection has been described.

Application

4-Aminophenol may be used in the synthesis of 2,2-bis(4-aminophenoxy) benzonitrile [4-APBN], a monomer required for the preparation of series of polyamides and poly(amide-imide)s. It may be used as derivatization reagent during paper spray ionization mass spectrometric estimation of aldehydes.
