Application
Perchloric acid, silica-supported (HClO4-SiO2) can be used as a catalyst for:
- The preparation of amidoalkyl naphthols by the condensation reaction of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes, and acetonitrile.
- The Friedlander quinoline synthesis by the condensation reaction of 2-aminoaryl ketones and carbonyl compounds.
- The synthesis of aryl or alkyl-dibenzo xanthenes by the condensation reaction between aldehyde and 2-naphthol.
- The protection of various hydroxyl functional groups by converting into their corresponding trimethylsilyl ethers using hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS).
