Application
Poly(tert-butyl acrylate) is a hydrophobic polymer used in many applications; primarily in which the tert-butyl group is substituted with a desired functionality. The hydrophilicity of this block can be tuned by varying the hydrolysis of the t-butyl group. The end group functionality contains an azide as well as the 2-(Dodecylthiocarbonothioylthio)-2-methylpropionic acid RAFT agent moiety. This RAFT CTA will allow for additional polymerization to generate a diblock copolymer. This RAFT agent is especially suited for the polymerization of styrene; acrylate and acrylamide monomers.
