Application

This compound is for specifically labeling arginines with Cy3. The compound contains a phenylglyoxyl group that reacts specifically with the guanidinyl group of arginine. After attachment to arginine the Cy3 can be detected by measuring fluorescence. Unmodified Cy3 has an excitation at ~550 nm and an emission at ~570 nm. See the associated publication by Thompson et al. for more details about the compound.

Darren A Thompson et al.
Journal of peptide science : an official publication of the European Peptide Society, 22(5), 311-319 (2016-03-24)
A new class of arginine-specific bioconjugation reagents for protein labeling has been developed. This method utilizes a triazolyl-phenylglyoxal group on the probe molecule that reacts selectively with the guandinyl group of Arg residues in a protein or peptide. The reaction
