General description

Aquivion® PFSA dispersions are based on the short-side-chain (SSC) copolymer of Tetrafluoroethylene and the Sulfonyl Fluoride Vinyl Ether (SFVE) CF2=CF2-O-(CF2)2-SO2F industrially produced by Solvay Specialty Polymers. The resulting perfluoropolymer′s functional groups are in their sulfonic acid form, SO3H.

Application

Amongst other, Aquivion® D83-24B can be used as formulation additive for production of polymer electrolyte fuel cell electrodes, manufacture or repair of cation-exchange membranes, surface coatings of PTFE membranes to improve their wetting behavior or for the development of superacid catalysts. Addition of further film-forming and/or other volatile or non-volatile chemicals is necessary to impart the desired processing and end-product characteristics.
