General description
Lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide in ethylene carbonate and dimethylcarbonate, 1.0 M LiTFSI in EC/EMC=50/50 (w/w) is a solution of battery-grade LiTFSI dissolved in binary mixture of EC/EMC (50:50) wt%. The product is a clear solution with strictly minimized impurities including low moisture (≤100 ppm), low trace metals (≤10 ppm Na and K), low chloride (<10 ppm), and low sulfate (<10 ppm).
Application
The main application of 1.0 M LiTFSI in EC/EMC=50/50 (w/w) is as an electrolyte in Li-ion batteries. Lithium bis(trifluoromethane sulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI) salt are potentially a good alternative to LiPF6 since it could both improve the chemical and thermal stability as salt for electrolyte. The high purity battery grade 1.0 M LiTFSI in EC/EMC=50/50 (w/w) is suitable for R&D activities in LIBS such as oxidative studies of different electrodes, studies on thermal stability in LIBs, Solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) formation etc. In a study with lithium/graphite half cells, it has been observed that, EMC exerted no observable adverse effects on the SEIs or on the kinetics; instead, the addition of EMC was found to reduce low-temperature film resistances and to enhance the kinetics and the discharge characteristics. The best low-temperature electrical performance was observed in the case of the electrolyte with the highest EMC content; this is consistent with the lower (relative to the other carbonate solvents) viscosity and freezing temperature of EMC.
