Application
NanoFabTx™ Polymers for Microneedles are carefully selected polymers that can be used to formulate microneedle patches. Microneedles are tiny projections of polymeric needles that can vary in length, pitch, and array for topical drug delivery applications. They are typically composed of biodegradable synthetic or natural polymers at a variety of suitable concentrations.
Gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) is one of the most common natural polymers used in a variety of biomedical applications due to its suitable biological properties and tunable physical characteristics. GelMA can be used to form hydrogels via photopolymerization with photoiniatiors such as lithium phenyl-2,4,6-trimethylbenzoylphosphinate (LAP). GelMA hydrogel microneedles have been used to encapsulate and delivery a variety of therapeutics including small molecules, exosomes, and proteins.
