General description

NMC532 is a lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide cathode active material powder with a nominal composition of 50% nickel, 30% manganese, and 20% cobalt. It belongs to the family of layered transition metal oxides and is designed for use in lithium-ion batteries because it offers an excellent balance between high energy capacity, power output, and long cycle life.

Application

NMC532′s high energy density and excellent cycle life make it a superior choice for electric vehicle batteries and advanced lithium-ion battery technologies. NMC532′s composition is critical to its performance. The nickel content, which is around 50%, improves the capacity, with our NMC532 achieving a capacity exceeding 175 mAh/g at a 1C rate and 4.4V. The cobalt, at around 20%, plays a crucial role in stabilizing the crystal structure and limiting the cation mixing, which is a common issue in nickel-rich NMCs such as NMC811. As a result, NMC532 typically enjoys longer cycle lifetime, particularly at high voltages (>4.2 V) and at elevated temperatures, compared to NMC811. Additionally, our NMC532 is engineered to have a narrow particle size distribution and low surface area (0.2-1.0 m2/g) with a tap density typically of 1.8 g/cm3. These characteristics help the user achieve dense electrodes with improved aerial capacity.
