General description

Our battery-grade lithium oxide is a high-purity compound meeting 99.9% purity by trace metals. Lithium oxide is a white crystalline powder, passed through a 60 mesh screen. Lithium oxide or lithia, behaves chemically as a strong base that reacts slowly with water to form lithium hydroxide. Lithium oxide also slowly absorbs carbon dioxide from the air to form lithium carbonate. To preserve the purity and composition of lithium oxide, it is advised to store this material under an inert gas atmosphere.

Application

Our high-purity lithium oxide is integral to the synthesis of advanced battery materials. Our Li2O is often used as a reagent in solid-state synthesis, sintering processes, and mechanochemical methods, where the purity of the initial precursors is essential for optimal results. Lithium oxide serves as an effective precursor in the manufacture of disordered rock salt cathode materials, such as Li2MnO3 or Li2MnO2F. During these processes, it is typically milled together with Mn2O3 and LiF to achieve the desired chemical structure. Additionally, lithium oxide is utilized in synthesizing solid electrolytes and acts as a sintering additive to enhance the densification of these electrolytes. It also contributes to the modification of the solid-electrolyte interphase on lithium-metal anodes when added to liquid electrolytes. Beyond battery applications, our lithium oxide is employed in the production of advanced optical glasses and materials designed for radiation shielding, underscoring its versatility and essential role in high-tech manufacturing.
