TissueFab®Porous Bioink
25-175 μm, Vis/405 nm
General description
Alginate microspheres loaded inside a GelMA bioink will degrade and shrink over time due to ion exchange and triggerable degradation upon subjection to a sodium citrate solution (which chelates calcium away from alginate). Removal of calcium from alginate ionic crosslink destabilizes and resolubilizes the alginate, allowing it to be removed. Alginate is biocompatible biopolymer and does not harm cells in high concentrations, unlike Pluronics and PEO.
Application
Sodium Citrate and Sodium Chloride is provided at an optimized concentration for 3D bioprinting applications. It can be used to dissolve alginate microspheres that are loaded into a crosslinked cell-laden bioinks to create porosity withing the bionk, and can be further cultred and use for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.
Low bioburden: Bioburden is defined as the number of contaminated organisms found in a given amount of material. We test each lot for total bioburden (aerobic and fungal) to minimize unwanted interactions.
