General description

7-(Diethylamino)-4-(hydroxymethyl)coumarin, commonly abbreviated DEACM, is a coumarin-based fluorescent compound widely used as a photoremovable protecting group (PPG) and fluorescent probe. It belongs to the class of coumarin derivatives, featuring a hydroxymethyl substitution at the 4-position and a diethylamino group at the 7-position, giving it strong photophysical properties.

Application

A coumarin derivative useful for generation of photocontrolled PROTACs(photoPROTACs) that can cause on demand degradation using 365nm light.

Features and Benefits

DEACM absorbs light in the near-UV to blue region (~365 nm) and exhibits bright fluorescence, making it especially valuable for photo-controlled release applications (“caging” techniques), biological imaging, and fluorescent sensing. Because of its excellent quantum yield and chemical stability, DEACM is widely adopted in fields such as chemical biology, pharmaceutical R&D, photochemistry, and analytical sciences.
