Application

This compound is for specifically labeling arginines with biotin. This reagent contains a phenylglyoxyl group that reacts specifically with the guanidinyl group of arginine. The PEG linker improves aqueous solubility. After attachment to arginine the biotin can be used for capture by streptavidin. See the associated publication by Thompson et al. for more details about the compound.

Darren A Thompson et al.
Journal of peptide science : an official publication of the European Peptide Society, 22(5), 311-319 (2016-03-24)
A new class of arginine-specific bioconjugation reagents for protein labeling has been developed. This method utilizes a triazolyl-phenylglyoxal group on the probe molecule that reacts selectively with the guandinyl group of Arg residues in a protein or peptide. The reaction
