General description
Vildagliptin is an antidiabetic or antihyperglycemic agent. It improves glycemic control by inhibiting the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) enzyme. It is also used in combination with metformin, pioglitazone, or insulin to lower the glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in type 2 diabetic patients.
