General description
Soy Phospholipid Mixture comprises phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidic acid and lysophosphatidylcholine. Soybean phospholipids are by-products generated during soybean oil processing.
Application
Soy Phospholipid Mixture has been used as a purified lipid standard in thin layer chromatography for the quantification of whole-cell lysates and mitochondrial lipids from yeast cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidylcholine is an acetylcholine synthesis substrate. It nourishes the brain. Phosphatidylinositol plays a key role in neural transmission by acting as a secondary messenger precursor. Phosphatidylethanolamine participates in membrane fusion events. The biocompatible and amphiphilic functionality of phospholipids enable them to be a perfect drug delivery system. They are used in generation of the liposomes for carrying drugs. Phospholipids possess hydrophilic colloid property.
