General description

15:0-18:1-d7-PI (1-pentadecanoyl-2-oleoyl(d7)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoinositol) is a deuterated phospholipid. The lipid comprises the phosphotidylinositol attached to pentadecanoic acid and oleic acid. Oleic acid harbors the deuterium ions. Phosphotidylinositol are esterified inositol associated with bacteria and eukaryotes. It is synthesized in endoplasmic reticulum and is an anionic lipid. The sn-1 and sn-2 positions of the glycerol is esterified with fatty acids. The phosphate group is present in sn-3 position.
This deuterium labeled lipid is also available in a formulation of multiple lipid standards. The SPLASH® LIPIDOMIX® Standard includes all of the major lipid classes at ratios relative to human plasma, allowing one easy internal standard solution to be added to every sample. [

Application

15:0-18:1-d7-PI (1-pentadecanoyl-2-oleoyl(d7)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoinositol (ammonium salt)) has been used:
  • as a component of extraction solvent for lipid isolation from biological samples
  • as an internal standard to spike cell lysate and to quantify lipid species using fourier transform mass spectrometry (FTMS) analysis
  • as an isotopically labeled lipid internal standard for correction of lipids detected in lipid droplets using shotgun mass spectrometry analysis

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphotidylinositol (PI) undergo phosphorylation in their hydroxyls group and the phosphorylated PIs regulate various biological processes including membrane trafficking, endocytosis and autophagy.
