General description

Phosphoethanolamine (PHOS)/ (PE) is a precursor to phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylethanolamine controls membrane fluidity in eukaryotic cells. Phosphoethanolamine (PHOS) has the ability to repress tumour growth both in vitro and in vivo. It possesses anticarcinogenic effects. It can also prevent the mRNA expression of cyclin D1 and VEGFR1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1).
