General description
Lysophosphatidic acid (1- or 2-acyl-lysophosphatidic acid/LPA), a bioactive phospholipid is seen at a low level in plasma (~100nM). It is usually formed during the synthesis of phospholipid of cell membranes. It is produced by various cells like, activated platelets, epithelial cells, leukocytes, neuronal cells and tumor cells. 18:0 Lyso PA has stearic acid at sn-1 and a hydroxyl group at sn-2 position.
Application
18:0 Lyso PA is suitable for use:
- to determine the extraction recovery of LPA at neutral pH and acidic pH by chromatographic method
- to use as internal standard to study the role of intestinally derived lysophosphatidic acid in dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis
- to investigate its effects on clathrin?dependent endocytosis
Biochem/physiol Actions
Lysophosphatidic acid (1- or 2-acyl-lysophosphatidic acid/LPA) modulates cell motility, proliferation, invasion, survival and production of growth factors via G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR).

We recently reported that levels of unsaturated lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) in the small intestine significantly correlated with the extent of aortic atherosclerosis in LDL receptor-null (LDLR⁻/⁻) mice fed a Western diet (WD). Here we demonstrate that WD increases unsaturated (but

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptor 1 (LPA1) is a member of the G protein-coupled receptors mediating the biological response to LPA species. Lack of detailed mechanism underlying LPA/LPA1 interaction has hampered the development of specific antagonists. Here, novel N-terminal Lys39 has
