General description
C16-04:0 PC, also known as 1-O-hexadecyl-2-butyryl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (butanoyl-PAF), is a platelet-activating factor (PAF) analog belonging to the class of bioactive lipids. It is produced non-enzymatically in the oxidized-low density lipoprotein (Ox-LDL) particle. Butanoyl-PAF contains ether-linked hexadecyl chain at the sn-1 position and a butyryl group at the sn-2 position. It is mostly produced in body during high oxidative stress. This lipid mediator acts as a pro-inflammatory agent.
Application
C16-04:0 PC or 1-O-hexadecyl-2-butyryl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is suitable to study its physicochemical properties and its association with peptides derived from the C-terminal domains of human apolipoprotein E.
