General description
Recombinant, human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) expressed in E. coli and purified by proprietary chromatographic methods. BMP-2 is a homodimeric protein that belongs to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily. BMP-2 is known to regulate diverse fundamental processes during embryonic development. It also plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis and is expressed in a variety of tissues such as lung, spleen, brain, liver, prostate, ovary, and small intestine.
Physical form
Lyophilized from sterile 10 mM sodium citrate, pH 3.5.
Preparation Note
Following reconstitution, refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage or aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for 2-7 days at 4°C or for up to 6 months at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions.
Reconstitute to ≥100 µg/ml with 20 mM acetic acid containing 0.1% HSA or BSA. Further dilutions can be made in aqueous buffers just prior to use.
