General description

Recombinant, human granzyme A expressed in E. coli. Granzyme A is a trypsin-like serine protease found in the cytotoxic granules and secreted by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) and natural killer (NK) cells. Granzyme A is a pro-apoptotic enzyme that induces cell death through a caspase-independent mechanism. Granzyme A-induced apoptosis results in single-stranded DNA nicking, nuclear fragmentation, chromatin condensation, loss of mitochondrial potential, and membrane blebbing. Granzyme A is also known to bind to and cleave nucleolin, activate the thrombin receptor on neuronal cells and astrocytes, cleave and activate interleukin-1β, and cleave putative HLA-associated protein II (PHAP II). Recombinant human Granzyme A expressed in E. coli.
