General description

Recombinant, human interleukin-8 expressed in E. coli. A potent proinflammatory cytokine produced by monocytes, fibroblasts, and keratinocytes in response to stimulation by LPS, IL-1, or TNF-α, and by T lymphocytes in response to PHA stimulation. Induces adhesion of neutrophils to endothelial cells. A physiological initiator of chemotactic migration of leukocytes. May be involved in chronic inflammation. IL-8 acts as an angiogenic factor in human gastric carcinoma.

Biochem/physiol Actions

ED₅₀ = 150-300 ng/ml as measured by induction of myeloperoxidase release from human neutrophils

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C) for long term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 month at 4°C or up to 3 months at -70°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions.
Reconstitute to a concentration ≥10 µg/ml with sterile PBS containing at least 0.1% HSA or BSA.
