General description

A cell-permeable sesquiterpene lactone with anti-inflammatory properties. Acts as a highly specific, potent, and irreversible inhibitor of NF-κB activation by preventing IκBα degradation. Does not affect the DNA binding activity of activated NF-κB or inhibit Fyn and Src kinase activities. Also reported to inhibit IL-8 gene expression in cultured human respiratory epithelium and iNOS gene expression in cultured rat aortic smooth muscle cells. Shown to protect against endotoxic shock in rats.
A cell-permeable sesquiterpene lactone with anti-inflammatory properties. Acts as a highly specific, potent, irreversible inhibitor of NF-κB activation that acts by preventing IκBα degradation. Does not affect the DNA binding activity of activated NF-κB, or inhibit p59fyn and Src kinase activities. Inhibits IL-8 gene expression in cultured human respiratory epithelium in vitro, and iNOS gene expression in cultured rat aortic smooth muscle cells. Offers protection against endotoxic shock in vivo.
