General description

A cell permeable dinaphthothiophenetetraone compound isolated from marine bacterium of the genus Serinicoccus that targets dermicidin and displays anti-cancer property against a wide range of cancer cell lines (mean GI = 758 nM, LC50 = 13.2 µM in NCI-60 panel). Exhibits highest potency against melanoma cell lines. Following its uptake it localizes rapidly into endoplasmic reticulum and induces autophagocytosis as evidenced by increased conversion of LC3A-I and LC3B-I to LC3A-II and LC3B-II, respectively. Also shown to induce apoptosis in HCT-116 cells with increase in caspase-3, 7, and 9 activation and cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase.

Please note that the molecular weight for this compound is batch-specific due to variable water content. Please refer to the vial label or the certificate of analysis for the batch-specific molecular weight. The molecular weight provided represents the baseline molecular weight without water.
