Gene Information
human ... CNTF(1270)
General description
Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor (CNTF) is a potent neural factor that was originally characterized as a survivability factor for chick ciliary neurons in vitro. CNTF also has been shown to promote survivability and differentiation of other neural cell types. Recombinant Human CNTF is a 22.7 kDa protein containing 199 amino acid residues.
Product Source: E.coli
Biochem/physiol Actions
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent proliferation of human TF-1 cells is 50-150 ng/mL.
Physical form
The sterile filtered solution was lyophilized from 10 mM Citric Acid, pH 3.0 + 75 mM sodium chloride.
Preparation Note
The lyophilized powder is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at -20°C. Reconstitute in 5 mM NaP, pH 7.5 to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for future use. Reconstituted human CNTF should be stored in undiluted aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
