Gene Information

human ... NUFIP2(57532)

General description

FMR1-interacting protein NUFIP2 (UniProt: Q7Z417 also known as 82 kDa FMRP-interacting protein, 82-FIP, Cell proliferation-inducing gene 1 protein, FMRP-interacting protein 2, Nuclear FMR1-interacting protein 2, nuclear fragile X mental retardation protein interacting protein 2) is encoded by the NUFIP2 (also known as KIAA1321) gene (Gene ID: 57532) in human. NUFIP2 is an RNA-binding protein involved in posttranslational regulation. It is found in association with actively translating polyribosomes, RNA granules in cytoplasm, RNA complexes in neurites and RNAi machinery. Structurally, NUFIP2 is characterized by a nuclear localization signal and multiple RNA-binding domains, which facilitate its interaction with RNA and other proteins, including the fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP). Its expression profile indicates high levels in the brain, particularly in neuronal tissues, where it is crucial for maintaining proper synaptic function. Subcellular localization studies reveal that NUFIP2 is predominantly found in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Dysregulation of NUFIP2 has been implicated in various diseases, including neurodevelopmental disorders and certain cancers, suggesting its potential as a biomarker and therapeutic target. Recent studies have focused on elucidating its molecular mechanisms and interactions, providing insights into its contributions to disease pathology. Clone 23G8 is a rat monoclonal antibody and is suitable for western blotting and Immunoprecipitation. (Ref.: Rehage, N., et al. (2018). Nat Commun. 9(1):299; Hoefig, K.P., et al. (2021). Immunogen

GST-tagged, full-length, recombinant human NUFIP2 protein.

Application

Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in MEF-1 cells.

Western Blotting Analysis (WB): A 1:1,000 dilution of a representative lot detected NUFIP2 in lysates from wild-type MEF-1 cells, but not in NUFIP2 knockout MEF-1 cells.

Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot detected NUFIP2 in Immunoprecipitation application (Rehage, N., et al. (2018). Nat Commun. 9(1):299).

Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot detected NUFIP2 in Western Blotting applications (Rehage, N., et al. (2018). Nat Commun. 9(1):299; Hoefig, K.P., et al. (2021). Nat Commun. 12(1):5208; O′Neill, A.C., et al. (2022). Science. 376(6599):eabf9088).

Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user.
