General description

Dimetridazole (DMZ) is a 5-nitroimidazole type veterinary drug mostly used for treating infections caused by bacteria and protozoa. These infections can be frequently seen in the poultry industry.

Application

Dimetridazole has been used as reference standard for determination of DMZ concentration from poultry muscles, porcine kidney and liver, and chicken liver tissues using gas chromatography–electron capture negative ionization mass spectrometry (GC–ECNI-MS).
