General description

4-tert-Octylphenol belongs to the alkylphenol family of endocrine disrupting phenolic compounds. It is used primarily in household and industrial processes.

Application

4-tert-Octylphenol may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in:
  • Aqueous samples using simultaneous derivatization and dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) or solid-phase extraction (SPE) followed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
  • Surface water samples by SPE and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
