General description
1,3-Diaminopropane is a polyamine and its effect on ethylene biosynthesis and chlorophyll loss were studied in peeled leaves of oat.
Application
1,3-Diaminopropane was used in the preparation of Schiff base of new azo compound 5-[3-(1,2,4-triazolyl-azo]-2,4-dihydroxy-benzaldehyde.

Excision and dark incubation of oat (Avena sativa L., var. Victory) leaves cause a sharp increase in protease activity, which precedes Chl loss. Both these senescence processes are inhibited by exogenously applied 1,3-diaminopropane (Dap), which occurs naturally in leaf segments.
Synthesis and spectral studies of 5-[3-(1, 2, 4-triazolyl-azo]-2, 4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde (TA) and its Schiff bases with 1, 3-diaminopropane (TAAP) and 1, 6-diaminohexane (TAAH). Their analytical application for spectrophotometric microdetermination of cobalt (II).
