General description
Aquanal™ kits can be used for the determination of hardness and phosphate, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite concentrations. Carbonate Hardness is part of total hardness. The calcium and magnesium ions, which are present as carbonate and hydrogen carbonate are referred to as carbonate hardness or temporary hardness. The carbonate hardness is determined by titration with hydrochloric acid. The end point of titration is indicated by the Cooper′s indicator. Carbonate hardness is a measure of the sensitivity of the water to pH variations and is especially important in aquariums and water supply companies.
