General description

Polystyrene (PS) is a widely used polymer due to properties such as low specific weight, high chemical resistance and mechanical flexibility and also it is biocompatible. PS as biomaterials was manufactured for cell attachment. Functionalized porous polymer beads are used for solid-phase organic synthesis, combinatorial chemistry, polymer-supported catalysis, ion-exchange resin. Polystyrene gels are cross-linked in presence of diluents which forms a fine-mesh bead used for packing into chromatographic columns.

Application

Polystyrene Beads may be used as packing material for columns used in Gel Permeation Chromatography.
