General description

Potassium phosphate monobasic is a soluble salt employed as heterogeneous catalyst, additive, fungicide, buffer, and plant fertilizer.

Application

Potassium phosphate monobasic can be used as a catalyst:
  • In the regioselective monobromination of aralkyl ketones to synthesize monobrominated ketones.
  • To synthesize acridine-1,8-diones and hexahydroquinolines via Hantzsch type reaction.
It can also be used as an additive in the oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes. The role of KH2PO4 was to regulate the pH of the solution, which affected the rate at which hydroxyl radicals were generated. As a result, the reaction′s selectivity was improved.
