General description
The product is a 190proof ethanol. Ethanol, a primary alcohol, is an important raw material for the synthesis of various compounds. It can be synthesized either from molasses by fermentation or by hydration of ethylene. It acts as a hydrogen source and reaction medium during the transfer hydrogenation of carbonyl compounds in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The impact of ethanol/water fumigation on the performance of diesel engines has been studied.
Application
Ethanol (190proof) may be used as an extractant for the isolation of flavonoids and chlorogenic acid from dried leaves and stems of Cryptocarya alba.
Other Notes
1Distribution and use of ethyl alcohol in Switzerland require a license from the Swiss Federal Alcohol Administration
