General description

2-Ethylhexanal is one of the active metabolites of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). It is a commercially important compound utilized in the production of disinfectants, insecticides and is also used as an intermediate for the manufacture of perfumes, paints, warning agents, and leak detectors.

Application

2-Ethylhexanal may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in the atmosphere of charcoal plants by high-performance liquid chromatography and UV detection. It may also be used as an internal standard for the determination of the analyte from wood pellets(6) by chromatography-based techniques.
