General description
2-(Hydroxymethyl)butyric acid sodium salt is a urine organic acid, reportedly found in increased concentrations in primary hyperoxaluria type 2 patients.
Application
2-(Hydroxymethyl)butyric acid sodium salt may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in the following:
- Cerebrospinal fluid using two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC × GC–TOFMS).
- Body fluids using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
