General description
3-hydroxy Desloratadine is a major metabolite of desloratadine and loratadine, which are non-sedating tricyclic antagonists of the histamine H1 receptor and antihistamine drugs used to manage allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Application
3-Hydroxy Desloratadine finds application in metabolomics and drug discovery research
Biochem/physiol Actions
3-hydroxydesloratadine formation involves the oxidation of desloratadine by cytochrome P450 (CYP2C8) and subsequent glucuronidation by UDP-glucuronosyltransferase UGT2B10 in cryopreserved human hepatocytes. This pathway leads to the production of 3-hydroxydesloratadine, a major active human metabolite.
Features and Benefits
- High quality compound suitable for multiple research applications
- Compatible with a wide variety of chromatographic and spectrometry techniques

A recent in vitro study suggested that CYP2C8 is essential in the metabolism of desloratadine, an H1 receptor antagonist. If the proposed biotransformation mechanism takes place in vivo in humans, desloratadine could serve as a selective CYP2C8 probe substrate in
