General description

Potassium chromate (K2CrO4) is the potassium salt having morphological features similar to potassium sulfate (isostructural). Its crystals exhibit rhombic crystal system. It can be manufactured by reacting potassium dichromate with potassium hydroxide. It has been reported to crystallize in orthorhombic space group. Production of potassium chromat by a new reaction system of KOH-KNO3-H2O (binary submolten salt system) has been proposed.
