General description

Sodium nitrate is an inorganic sodium salt. Sodium nitrate (Chile saltpeter, NaNO3) is found naturally in abundant amounts in paleogeochemical ores in northern Chile. Sodium nitrate can be obtained from these ores by mining and leaching. NaNO3 can be used as a fertilizer in agricultural fields.[1]

Application

Sodium nitrate may be employed in polyol process for the modification of morphological features of Pt nanoparticles.[2] It may be employed for the modification of natural phosphate (NP) to afford natural phosphate doped with sodium nitrate (NaNO3/NP). NaNO3/NP was used as a catalyst during the synthesis of chalcones.[3]
