General description

1,1,2-Trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane is a chlorofluorocarbon solvent. It affords C2H2F2 and CH4, via Pd/TiO2 catalyzed-reaction with hydrogen at 420-820K. Chlorotrifluoroethene is formed as the main reaction product during the electrodechlorination of 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (CFC 113) in the presence of palladium (catalyst).

Application

1,1,2-Trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane may be used for purifying the insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) isolated from the serum of wild western gray kangaroos.
