Colorimetric, Endpoint
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ohnishi and Barr′s modification of micro Lowry method. According to procedure, dilute biuret reagent reacts with peptide bonds to yield a purple-blue complex, the color of which is intensified by the addition of phenol reagent. Absorbance, read at 550-750 nm, is used to determine results from a standard curve.

Bicinchoninic acid, sodium salt, is a stable, water-soluble compound capable of forming an intense purple complex with cuprous ion (Cu1+) in an alkaline environment. This reagent forms the basis of an analytical method capable of monitoring cuprous ion produced in
Protein measurement with the Folin phenol reagent.
