General description
Anti-hABH1 antibody, Mouse monoclonal (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hABH1-151 hybridoma produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells (NS1 cells) and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to a fragment of human hABH1, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH).
Human AlkB homologue 1 (hABH1) is one of the eight homologs of E. coli AlkB. Homology modeling studies have analyzed the role of hABH1 gene in DNA repair after alkaylation-induced damage.
Application
Anti-hABH1 antibody, Mouse monoclonal has been used in
- chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP)
- immunohistochemistry
- enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
- immunoblotting
- immunoprecipitation
Biochem/physiol Actions
Monoclonal Anti-hABH1 (human AlkB homologue) recognizes human and monkey ABH1. It does not recognize hABH2 or hABH3. The antibody epitope resides within amino acids 19-34 of human hABH1.
The human homolog, AlkB homolog 1, histone H2A dioxygenase (Alkbh1) is linked with several enzymatic actions, such as, DNA, mRNA or tRNA hydroxylation, cleavage at abasic (AP) site in DNA and demethylation of histones. It plays a key role in epigenetic gene silencing, as it is known to exhibit m6A demethylation activity . ALKBH1 participates in normal cell proliferation.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Inhibition of DNA repair mechanism through alkylating agents in tumor cells is an important method for cancer treatment. Alkylation damage repair gene AlkB was first reported in E. coli. In human and other mammals eight distinguishing homologs of AlkB were
