General description

Tau is an axonal protein that promotes microtubule assembly and stabilizes neuronal microtubules. Under pathological conditions, Tau can get hyperphosphorylated and form aberrant aggregates similar to those found in Alzheimer′s disease.
The antibody recognizes only human Alzheimer´s tau that is conformationally different from normal tau and shows no cross-reactivity with tau from age-matched control brains or with six recombinant tau isoforms, MAPs, or tubulin.

Immunogen

Alzheimer´s tau isolated from AD brain.

Application

Autopsied human brains were formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded then cut into 10 um sections for immunohistochemistry using monoclonal mouse anti-Alzheimer′s Disease Tau antibody at a dilution of 1:1000.
Mouse Monoclonal Anti-Alzheimer′s Disease Tau antibody has been used for immunohistochemical applications. The antibody can also be used for indirect immunofluorescence (1:1,000) and western blot (1:500) applications.

Physical form

Solution in DMEM (without sodium pyruvate and sodium bicarbonate) containing 0.1% thimerosal as a preservative.

Tau-like immunoreactivity is known to develop in neurons under some experimental conditions simulating ischemia. The purpose of this study is to investigate the expression of tau-like immunoreactivity in the human brain after ischemic insult. A series of autopsied human brains

Amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) are the major pathological characteristics of Alzheimer's disease (AD). NFTs are composed of tubular filaments and paired helical filaments containing polymerized hyperphosphorylated tau protein. Another feature of AD is excessive generation of nitric oxide

Using tau protein extracts from Alzheimer's disease (AD) brain tissue, we generated a monoclonal antibody (mAb DC11) which decorated neurofibrillary pathology in brain derived from AD patients on immunohistochemistry, and which lacked reactivity with healthy brain tissue. The same pattern
