Application
This is a recombinant albumin that is animal component- and immunoglobin-free. This human albumin is suitable for use as a blocking agent for procedures such as ELISA, RIA, and western blotting and as a stabilizing agent for protein and analyte solutions. This albumin is not tested for suitablility for cell culture applications. For cell culture applications, please see the cell culture tested recombinant human albumins, Product No. A9731 and A6608.
This recombinant variant is recommended for use in absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) pharmacological research; cell culture; drug delivery research; and cryopreservation of cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Albumins are soluble monomeric proteins found in the body fluids and tissues of animals and in some plant seeds. Serum albumin functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones. Serum albumins are also vital in regulating the colloidal osmotic pressures of blood.
Preparation Note
Solutions of this albumin can be prepared by dissolving the powder in water and mixing or inverting gently (to prevent bubble formation). If a sterile solution is required, the solution can be filtered through a 0.2 μm filter. Solutions should be stored at 4-8° C. This albumin contains a small amount of NaCl to aid in solubility in water. A human albumin 20 % (w/v) solution will contain approximately 50 mM NaCl.

Affinity maturation is a complex dynamical process allowing the immune system to generate antibodies capable of recognizing antigens. We introduce a model for the evolution of the distribution of affinities across the antibody population in germinal centers. The model is
