Biochem/physiol Actions
The gene for CRG-2 (mouse homologue of human IP-10), identified as an immediate early gene induced in response to macrophage activation, is reported to be an inhibitor of angiogenesis and displays thymus-dependent anti-tumor effects. CRG-2 mRNA is induced by α/β/γ-interferons and by lipopolysaccharide in macrophages, astrocytes and microglia. CRG-2 shares approximately 67% sequence identity with human IP-10.
Physical form
Lyophilized from 30% acetonitrile and 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid containing 0.5 mg bovine serum albumin.
Analysis Note
The biological activity is measured by its ability to chemoattract human lymphocytes cultured in the presence of IL-2 for 8-10 days.

We compared the expression of various interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma)-inducible mRNAs in primary rat astrocytes and microglia. Of 11 different mRNAs inducible by IFN-gamma in a macrophage cell line, RAW 264.7, only eight were induced in both types of glia, which included
