General description
CD22 belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is expressed on the surface of mature B cells and in the cytoplasm of virtually all B cells but not plasma cells. CD22 is strongly expressed in hairy cell leukemia cells.
Immunogen
hairy cell leukemia cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Recognizes the CD22, 135 kDa transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein. The antibody may be used for detection of both membrane and cytoplasmic CD22 and is suitable for flow cytometry and for staining of acetone-fixed, frozen tissue sections. It binds to an epitope dependent on the presence of both the first and the second Ig-like domains of the CD22 molecule. It does not inhibit CD22 mediated adhesion of various cells to CD22 transfected lines.

CD22 is a cell surface glycoprotein restricted to normal and malignant B-cells and is the target of several anti-CD22 antibody-based cancer therapies. For therapeutic antibody-payload conjugates, it is important to understand the subcellular trafficking of anti-CD22 antibodies to optimize antibody
