Biochem/physiol Actions
AVG-16 consists of reversibly immortalised primary granulosa cells. Primary cultures of pig granulosa cells have been cultured in the presence of the media supplement Ovagrow-S2A resulting in the establishment of an immortalised porcine primary granulosa cell line. Ovagrow-S2A, produced by Aivogen, comprises a naturally derived complex of growth promoting compounds, carrier proteins, and factors. These cells are not contact inhibited. The cells are conditionally immortalised; cell death will occur in the absence of OvagrowS2A and/or fibroblast growth factor-basic (bFGF).

Porcine Reversibly Immortalised Primary Granulosa Cells
Preparation Note
DMEM + 2 mM Glutamine + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) + 1% NEAA + 2.5ng/ml Fibroblast Growth Factor-Basic (bFGF) + 4% OvagrowS2A
Split subconfluent cultures (70-80%) 1:5 to 1:10, i.e., seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37 °C. Saturation density: 1.5x100,000 cells/cm2.
Other Notes
Cultures from HPA Culture Collections and supplied by Sigma are for research purposes only. Enquiries regarding the commercial use of a cell line are referred to the depositor of the cell line. Some cell lines have additional special release conditions such as the requirement for a material transfer agreement to be completed by the potential recipient prior to the supply of the cell line. Please view the Terms & Conditions of Supply for more information.
