MRC-5 Cell Line human

Established from normal lung tissue of a 14-week-old male fetus. The cells undergo 60-70 population doublings before senescence. The virus susceptibility of this line to human viruses is similar to that of WI-38 cells.
Subculture: Split at 70-80% confluency, approx. 1:3 to 1:6, seed at 2-4 × 10⁴ viable cells/cm². Trypsinize using 0.25% solution, with or without EDTA, 37 °C and 5% CO₂.
Recommended culture medium: EMEM (EBSS) + 2 mM L-Glutamine + 1% NEAA (non-essential amino acids) + 10% FBS.
