Biochem/physiol Actions

Indian Muntjac skin fibroblast
The cell line IMT 9 has been derived from the non-transformed skin fibroblast cell line Indian Muntjac (Sigma product no. 90112813). Transformation was achieved by continuous exposure to low-level cadmium (5 μM) and a short non-toxic single dose of methyl-nitroso urethane (MNU, 24 h at 0.1μm). Exposure to cadmium led to the establishment of SCR5 (ECACC product no. 95071120); the MNU treatment of SCR5 cells followed by tumour formation in a nude mouse gave rise to the cell line IMT9. IMT9 is highly tumourigenic whereas SCR5 expresses a low tumour level. The cells have been eradicated from mycoplasma at ECACC.

Preparation Note

MEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:8 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.

Other Notes

Cultures from HPA Culture Collections and supplied by Sigma are for research purposes only. Enquiries regarding the commercial use of a cell line are referred to the depositor of the cell line. Some cell lines have additional special release conditions such as the requirement for a material transfer agreement to be completed by the potential recipient prior to the supply of the cell line. Please view the Terms & Conditions of Supply for more information.
